The AVS mountain rescue service carries out rescue operations for people and animals requiring help in difficult-to-access Alpine areas across the entire South Tyrol region. According to a mandate from the Federal Autonomous State Government of South Tyrol, the regional rescue service is carried out by almost 1,000 members from 35 different rescue stations.
This service must be made available around the clock: 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. This task is carried aut in close collaboration with the Corpo Nazionale Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico which has the same purpose as the AVS South Tyrol Alpine Association.
